Elul Lake Immersion

Thursday, September 5 at 4:30pm and 6:00pm at a Twin Cities lake

On a magical late-summer evening, more than 30 people came together to learn, sing, and immerse in preparation for the High Holy Days. It was a time for reflection and introspection. Participants shared some words to describe the experience: grateful, blessing, exhilaration, relief, hope, renewal, and inspiration.

Honoring Personal Growth: A Summer Lake Immersion

Tuesday, August 20 at 5:00pm and 7:00pm at a Twin Cities lake

More than 25 people gathered on a beautiful, warm evening to experience the meaningful Jewish ritual of mikveh, full body water immersion, with Maayanot and Twin Cities Mussar. It was a time to honor personal growth, let go of the past, and renew intentions for living life in alignment with one’s closest held values.

Dip Into Mikveh: A Summer Lake Immersion

Maayanot, along with J-Pride, hosted a mikveh lake immersion on a cool, sunny evening. All participants engaged in the ancient-renewed ritual of full body immersion to mark a special event, milestone moment, or just to express gratitude.

Let’s bring the whole open mikveh movement together! Gather online with Jewish lay leaders, professionals, clergy, students, funders, volunteers, and educators around the world who are working to make mikveh inclusive and accessible to everyone in the Jewish community.  

At this virtual convening, you will gain new wisdom, relationships, and inspiration for Jewish ritual water immersion. Whether you are a mikveh expert or just curious enough to dip your toes in, you are welcome in this space of learning, connection, and co-creation. 

Participants will be inspired by an innovative keynote experience, build relationships at an interactive art gallery and mikveh fair, and celebrate the future of our movement with the annual Rising Tide Wellspring Awards.

Drinks & Dessert with Maayanot:
A Night Out for Women in their 30s & 40s

If you identify as a woman in your 30s or 40s, join us for a social evening out to meet new people, make new connections, and learn a bit about Maayanot Community Mikveh while you are there!

Soft drinks and dessert with kosher, dairy free, and gluten free options will be provided. Feel free to bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, and anything else you'd like to make yourself comfortable. This event co-sponsored by Maayanot and the Rising Tide Open Waters Mikveh Network.

The Colors of Water: Torah Study

Rabbi Haviva Ner-David from the Lower Galilee and Cantor Rachel Stock Spilker from St. Paul led a successful event that explored Jewish texts related to water as a vehicle for transition and renewal and how these teachings might apply to our lives today. This session included a combination of teaching and chevruta (partner learning) and was be accessible to all learners.

This was a Zoom study session prior to Hineni ENGAGE!, a day of Jewish learning and culture.

Rosh Chodesh Elul Lake Immersion

Maayanot and Hineni co-hosted a Rosh Chodesh Elul Mikveh Lake Immersion at Cedar Lake. Participants had an opportunity to experience the ritual of mikveh in the waters of an urban lake in preparation for the High Holy Days season.

Marking Transitions Through Mikveh

Cantor Rachel Stock Spilker taught about mikveh and what role can it play in our lives. The program explored the simultaneously ancient and renewed ritual of full body mikveh immersion and discussed ways people are using mikveh today to mark life milestones and transitions.

The program was open to anyone currently enrolled in an Introduction to Judaism class at any synagogue in Minnesota.

Mikveh lovers of all ages joined this virtual storytelling hour featuring a celebratory sneak peek at a brand new, first-ever children’s book about mikveh, Jewish ritual water immersion.

Authors Haviva Ner-David and Rachel Stock Spilker shared their vision for the book and the ways that the Rising Tide Open Waters Mikveh Network inspired this literary creation. Participants followed along with the story and beautiful illustrations of “Yonah and the Mikveh Fish,” asked questions of the authors and illustrator Meira Ner-David, and learned how to connect with and support their local community mikveh.

Why Mikveh Matters: Mikveh March Kickoff Event

Jewish community members around the globe gathered on Zoom for an evening of ritual, storytelling, and dreaming. Together, they traveled across time to soak up the power of water immersion, starting all the way back from Bereishit (the beginning – creation) until today. The event featured ancient texts related to water, stories of healing through transitions, and visions for the open mikveh movement.

Participants learned how they can play a role in the future of inclusive, accessible, and meaningful mikveh for everyone in the Jewish community.

"Old Mikveh, Meet New Mikveh"

More than 40 guests gathered under a tent at Adath Jeshurun Congregation for an informative and inspirational event with guest speakers Rabbi Sara Brandes and Cantor Rachel Stock Spilker.

Participants learned why a Roman-era archaeological discovery in Israel was moved, and what mikveh means for ritual life today in Israel and Minnesota.
